Hello friends, In this tutorial, I am going to show you how can we Create a Custom Detail Page on Standard Object.

Create a Custom Detail Page Button On Standard object:

In this example, I will create a Custom Detail Page Button and add this button on the Accord Page to Generate PDF. The PDF will have information about Account, Related Contacts, Related Opportunities, and Related Cases. Follow the steps to Create Custom Detail Page Button on Standard Object.

Before starting this example follow our previous session “Render a Visualforce Page as PDF” that will render a Visualforce page having Account Details as PDF.

Create a Custom Detail Page Button:

Step #1: Login to your Salesforce Org,

Step #2: Click on the Setup.

Step #2: Search for Account and Click on the “Button Links and Action” as highlighted in the below image.

Step #3: Click the “New Button or Link”.

Step #4:  Enter the Label as Generate PDF, Select Detail Page Button/ Enter the URL for Visualforce Page that we have created in the Previous Session Render a Visualforce Page as PDF as:

where yoursalesforceinstance is the name of your Salesforce instance.

Step #5: Click on the Save Button.

Add Button to Account Layout:

Step #1:  To Add Button on the Page Layout search for the Account in the left panel. Click on the Page Layout.

Step #2: Edit the Account Layout as highlighted in the image.

Step #3: From the Buttons category in the palette, drag Generate PDF into the Custom Buttons area on the page layout.

Step #4: Save the changes.

Quick Test:

Goto Account Record Page. and Click on the Generate PDF button.

A popup window will appear when you click Generate PDF button.
